WIFE SWAP

I can’t wait for next week’s instalment
It’s the programme that’s taken quite a grip
They choose two unsuspecting families
And before you know it Hell has let rip

The idea is for the mothers to change places
So it’s not quite the wife swap you had in mind
They pack a bag and move to the others house
To see what trials and tribulations they will find

Each ‘new’ husband is usually shocked and angry
To find his ‘new wife’ is nothing like the norm
Before you know it there are violent verbal exchanges
Just what you would expect and true to form

The first week they have to live in accordance
With the rules stipulated by the ‘real’ wife
She has left a detailed written manual
And has to follow it with her life

This causes friction and frosty backbiting
The new couple certainly don’t see eye to eye
Can’t agree on mealtimes and pocket money
Doesn’t take long for the abuse to fly

The second week can sometimes be hilarious
As the new lady of the house takes out her anger
There’s muffled voices echoing in the kitchen
The parting shot is someone’s going to be sued for slander

As well as the husband’s there is also the matter of the children
It’s quite amusing when the mother of one ends up with six
It takes super human powers to deal with it all
But sometimes all the humour in the world it cannot fix

Both often distraught couples meet up after two weeks
And sit together for a very enlightening debate
After glaring and squabbling and very loud shouting
Each to their own, but usually the other’s life they hate
